Desiccants are static moisture adsorption systems that help control high humidity.

What kind of damage can be caused to a load of goods due to humidity?

Moisture is responsible for damage caused to various types of goods ranging from oxidation, deterioration of materials, formation of CFUs from fungi or bacteria, bad odors, etc.

What does it mean for companies that their products are damaged being stored or moved?

During storage or during transportation, significant volumes of goods are damaged by humidity every year, consequently economic losses, rework, delays and many other inconveniences that affect the quality of products during the process of entry or exit of point to point.

What must be considered for desiccants to work successfully?

Moisture is responsible for deteriorating various types of materials ranging from the simplest, such as damage to the outer packaging, to serious damage or total loss. In order to provide effective protection, it is necessary to take into account the following aspects:

  • The amount and type of materials
  • The volume of each package.
  • The type of materials involved in the packaging.
  • What is packed (Product to protect)
  • The value.
  • How critical is the fact of exposing your products to moisture. 
  • How long. (stock)
  • Where it will be stored. 
  • Where will it be tranferred to. (from what point to what point)
  • How long does the transfer take? (Logistics)

After making these considerations, a diagnosis should be made to evaluate:

  • Amount and type of desiccant.
  • Quality and desiccant material.
  • Relative Humidity (RH) average of the site Average temperatures (over shelf life)
  • Determine size and static adsorption capacity of the material to be protected
